Welcome to Earth Sciences at U of T.
If you’re here you might be wondering what our department is all about. Earth Sciences examines the physical, chemical, and biological processes that shape the Earth and its companions in the solar system. Programs in Earth Sciences provide students with a solid foundation in mathematics and science, along with specialized courses on the physics and chemistry of rocks and minerals, the internal and external processes that have shaped the surface of the planet, and the role of living organisms in geological processes.
The research in our department is innovative, multidisciplinary and has wide implications on the natural world around us. From research into chemical contaminants in our environment, ancient climate modelling, modelling earth systems and economic geology, there’s a diverse range of fields you can explore throughout your undergraduate studies with Earth Sciences.
